What is half step down (E♭) tuning?
Every string drops one semitone: E♭–A♭–D♭–G♭–B♭–E♭. Chord shapes stay exactly the same as standard — everything just sounds a half step lower. Hendrix, Guns N' Roses, and Stevie Ray Vaughan lived here: it eases string tension, warms the tone, and sits better with many singers' range.
How to tune down a half step
Tap start, then work string by string from the thickest down. For each string the tuner highlights the right peg and tells you to loosen it slightly — a half step is a small turn, so go slowly. When the needle centers, the string gets a checkmark; six checkmarks and you're there.
