What is Drop C?
Drop C is the heavy-music workhorse: every string goes down a whole step, then the lowest string drops one more, landing on C–G–C–F–A–D. You keep the one-finger power chords of Drop D but sit a whole step lower — the sound of countless metal and hardcore records.
How to tune to Drop C
Tap start and work from the thickest string down. Every string is lower than standard here, so the tuner will tell you to loosen each one — go slowly, a whole step is a bigger turn than it sounds. If the tuner locks onto the wrong string while you're far from target, tap the string you're tuning below the needle and it will listen for that one only.
Heads up: this low, string tension drops noticeably. If your strings buzz or feel floppy in Drop C, a heavier gauge set (11s or 12s) makes a real difference.
