Tune your guitar

E – A – D – G – B – E

How to tune your guitar with this page

Tap start, allow the microphone, and pluck one string at a time close to your phone or laptop. The tuner hears the note, highlights which tuning peg belongs to that string on the headstock diagram, and tells you whether the pitch is too low or too high. Turn the peg a little at a time until the needle centers and the string gets its checkmark.

New to guitar? The thickest string (closest to the ceiling when you hold the guitar) is the low E. From there the strings go E–A–D–G–B–E, thickest to thinnest. If the tuner picks the wrong string, tap the right one below the tuner and it will listen for that string only.

Why tune in the browser?

Nothing to install and nothing to sign up for — this page is the whole tuner. Your audio is analyzed locally in your browser and never uploaded anywhere. It works on iPhone, Android, and any laptop with a microphone.

No microphone available?

If the microphone is blocked, the tuner switches to reference tones: play each string's note and match it by ear. It's harder for beginners than the live needle, so if you can, open this page in your regular browser and allow the mic.
