What is Open G?
In Open G the open strings ring out a G major chord: D–G–D–G–B–D. It's the sound of Keith Richards' Stones riffs, slide blues, and banjo-style fingerpicking. Barre one fret with a single finger and you have a full major chord anywhere on the neck.
How to tune to Open G
From standard, three strings drop a whole step: the low E to D, the A to G, and the high E to D. The D, G, and B strings in the middle don't move. Tap start, pluck one string at a time, and follow the needle — the tuner highlights which peg belongs to the string it hears and tells you which way the pitch needs to go.
